On June 2nd, 2023, STEP For A Better World LEO Club members honored National Gun Violence Awareness Day by holding a banner & wearing orange to make their actions more impactful to spread awareness against gun violence and honor those whose lives have been lost as a result. Wearing orange helped STEP members have a greater impact because back in 2013, everyone including Michelle Obama wore the color orange to the funeral of Hadiya Pendleton, a gun violence victim. Since then, the color orange has come to represent the movement against gun violence.
